The recent webinar of Navi Radjou was held on the 8th sept on the "HOW TO DO MORE WITH LESS". Navi Radjou Is a French-American scholar, Renowned TED-speaker, Innovation & Leadership Expert from the silicon valley.

He started the webinar by greeting us and appreciating to giving this wonderful opportunity. The "DIY" culture and Maker Movement promotes the culture that democratizes innovation. It is a growing trend in which groups of individuals like crafters, tinkerers make, sell or share unique products using available resources. 'Maker's Asylum' is a community makerspace to simply get your hands dirty and make your ideas happen. "Maker's asylum" founded by Vaibhav Chhabra for community space focussed on fostering innovation through hands-on learning, It provides resources like 3-D printing, wood cutting, laser cutting, electronics etc. for everyone including engineers, startups, designers. The flagship program of Maker's asylum, STEAM school, running for the last 2 years in collaboration with the French embassy in India, brings together 150 global participants including India that solve and prototype for the UN Sustainable Development Goals. They developed various projects like a BAT, BIJLI, The SADA kit and WASTED based on major socio-economic and ecological problems.

He mentioned that one companies waste can become the goods for other companies. He shared the example that, goods can be produced by used and waste coffee beans. Levi's Waste<Jeans made by the waste and recycled plastic bottles. These company used around 20 million waste bottles for its production. Dharavi diary is sort of organization to empower the youth, especially girls and women in the slum & lower communities through STEAM learning, skill building and storytelling to become problem solvers, innovators, and leaders. It teaches slum women to build handbags and valuable stuff which totally build from waste and recycle goods and source of their income.

The linear economy is overtaking by a circular economy that aims for the elimination of waste or used products through the design of products, and reusable business models rather than linear. In which waste is thrown away after its used. We should more focus on the regenerative business model than the exploitative business model to acquire collaborative advantage rather than a competitive one. He stated the importance of prosumer over the consumer, the prosumer is a professional consumer which consumes and produces a product. The next level of sharing like big equipment e uber tractors for poor farmers and Symbiosis between industrial systems, hospital utilities and public service facilities for boosting energy and resource efficiency which beneficiary to the cluster of firms.

He gave a brief introduction about frugal innovation and how we can practice for building a better world. It is the process of reducing the complexity and cost of good and it's production. It simply refers to removing non-essential features from a durable good. Frugal economy supported by sharing, making and reusing available resources and goods. he gives the best example of mangalyaan(mars orbital mission) which executes less than a Hollywood film 'gravity' and ten times cheaper than the Nasa's Mars mission. He is the author of jugaad and frugal innovation, which is a well-conceptualized book in this area. He also coined a term "Live simply so others may simply live." during the webinar, it simply means whatever excess you have in my life can be given to someone else who has much less. His 'How France and India can unleash the power of "frugal innovation" famous blog includes that through co-innovation means by bringing together Indian and French engineers, entrepreneurs, designers, and business leaders will create solutions to what he called "problems without borders": social inequality, global warming, chronic diseases, water, and food scarcity.

He further shared that, our generation is conscious citizens. They Acknowledged, we can access the same functional product with low cost and complexity. The power, fear, desire is chakra's which leads to greed and wanting more nature. Whereas Ingenuity, intuition, unity and passion leads to being or self -aware mode.

In developing countries, to overcome scarcity, the abundance factors like Traditional knowledge, Social capital and entrepreneurial mindset helped. Africa innovates more technology than India like efficient solar electricity concept, payments through phone etc. to overcome the scarcity of electricity and resources. The adverse resources present in Africa leads more opportunity to create social technologies. He finally ends the session with satisfactorily answer of questions. And gave us a reminder of "Earth Overshoot day" is not far away, if we still overconsuming remaining resources.
